about us

Dead Spies are three anonymous boys making unique and captivating music. They take alternative rock to its logical conclusion, using their hands, feet and voices to create a wash of spiky beauty. Aware that all modern music takes place in a hegemonic marketplace, they are nonetheless artists, and hope to capture your hearts with their mournful melodies, twisted harmonies, relentless rhythms and careful words. If you need a touchstone, you may struggle. There is no objective correlative, but you will find the efficiency and cynicism of post-punk, that alt-rock fusion of tunefulness and boundary-pushing, and (increasingly) touches of the wide-eyed expansiveness of contemporary post-rock. Dead Spies move between the minimal and the soaring, sometimes gracefully, sometimes playfully and sometimes with all the subtlety of a fist to the face - whatever the song requires. They hope you can find something to latch on to in their world...

Genre(s):
Post-Punk, Alternative, Art-Rock

Influences:
Ever changing, but mostly each other, our friends, our enemies, our girlfriends and our others.

Members:
Ade Spy - Guitar
Influences? Coxon G., Kenickie, Buckley J., Kerouac J., Huxley A. & Curie M. were/are all very cool indeed. Oh and he's from Guernsey!
Bill Spy - Bass/Vox
Bill measures everything against The Clash, Werner Herzog, Jan van Eyck and Albert Camus. Recently he has been enjoying Maximo Park, Interpol, some early Cure and the New Rhodes. He is fed up with the world but luckily there's enough interesting material to keep him occupied. Not least the works of Ludwig van, who remains the first and last.
Charlie Spy - Drums
If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away. Thoreau 1854.
