I got hold of some old demo tapes recently from a band I was in around 25 years ago. I thought it might be fun to stick them on Bandman & see what happend.
Here's the story of how they came about. and remember, they were recorded on tape recorders a quarter of a century ago, so sound quality might be a bit iffy, just listen to what it was like for a poor, unsigned band way back when.
1980, and Dave Wright (synth & guitar) & Andy Howarth (drums) were musing over the disolution of their post punk, funk, rock band, NCI. Dave had recently bumped into his old mate, singer/soner Ron Piddington and suggested he come along and see if the three of us could cook something up. We met up at the Travellers club, a shut down ruin where bands rehersed, in Stockport, Ron plugged in his guitar, statred playing a song, we both joined in, and that was that! A band was born.
Over the four or so years we went through four name changes; The Rhythm Romantics, the Deceptions, a one off get together as James Taste & the Backsliders and a short reformation as We 3 .
Over the time we had seven bass players! another guitarist and a one off backing singer, but, as I can't remember some of the names, I wont list them.
