about us

__plainfield__

Formed in Bolton in 1994 from members of Lofthouse (Ste and Richard) The Arch Dentons (John) and SPAC (Richard Addison).
The band has had many different drummers including Richard Addison, Ian Jones and currently Norman Cook.
They were originally called Seahorse then changed to The Automatics and only recently became Plainfield.
The band played many gigs in the late 90’s in and around Manchester. Venues included The Hacienda and the Boardwalk where they supported such bands as Half man half biscuit, The Cardiacs and the Sultans of Ping FC.
During late 2005 and early 2006 the band have been recording their first full album called ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ which is due for release in April 2006. It features 10 tracks written over the last ten years and there has already been speculation about a Mercury music award nomination.
The BBC have recently made a short film featuring the band recording their album at Redbridge Studios in Breightmet, Bolton. The film is currently being shown on the big screen in Manchester city centre and is included on their album.
