about us

The Humanity are a real live bunch of reprobates from London or thereabouts who get bored too easily. They met each other in crappy nightclubs a while back; Justin was dancing up a storm, Josh was smoking cigarettes and Lachlan was inviting everyone back to his. All three were very drunk and screaming, "hang the dj!"

Josh found a laptop on a train, appropriated it for the cause and began writing songs in his bedroom which was conveniently next door to Justin's where Justin would practise playing his bass in front of the mirror. They started working together and soon the songs got better, so when Josh met Lachlan again at a house party and they got talking about how rubbish most bands were, he convinced him to play guitar with him and Justin and they sealed the deal at five in the morning with stolen shots and cigarettes. It wasn't long before they realised that there was still something missing though and it was then that they remembered the strange girl they'd met outside a manics gig necking lambrini many years back and remembered that she was pretty hot when it came to all things guitar based. After plying Laura with copious amounts of cider the line-up was sealed and soon enough they had a fine collection of songs for burning down discos and lighting up dancefloors. Forgive them father for they know not what they do.

We are The Humanity, everything always gets in our way, and it tries to screw us over, but we dodge our way through it and always manage a good piss up.

Genre(s):
Indie, Alternative, Electronica

Influences:
the cure, the faint, bloc party, human league, chikinki, all sorts of other bits and bobs

Members:
Josh - Vocals/Programming
josh is a dandy wastrel who since birth has flitted between london proper and its suburbs, most of the time bored out of his mind and looking for ways to make things better or worse accordingly. he enjoys gin and smoking in near equal measure and despairs of modern culture in most of its repellant forms. he is not the man to ask about what was on big brother last night as the answer will most likely be vitriol of the highest order.
Justin - Bass
hailing from the desolate wastes of north london, justin is the vegetarian bass player for the humanity, the one with the hair. weighing in at two stone 6, he measures seven foot two in his stockinged feet and joined the band from a travelling circus. he is a friend to the animals, a dedicated vegetarian and also an all round top bloke. please be upstanding for mr brett...
Laura - Guitar
laura reps south london and was the missing piece of the humanity jigsaw (suitable for ages 4-10) having joined to fill out the guitar sound and blaze a drunken trail across the world. laura shares josh's proclivity to disregard convention towards the treatment of civic property and can often be spotted lurking in london nightspots with her hood up.
Steve - Guitar
Steve is the newest member of the band. He plays the guitar and has been known to use all six strings at once. He is a special FX master. Josh and Steve met whilst working in a job they hated where they created tv show treatments and discussed the imminence of cyclones in surrey over email. they were disliked by their bosses but they liked each other and became the firmest of friends. Steve knows famous people, some live down his road but he doesn't like to talk about it. Steve was also ranked in the top 2 in the country for riding bicycles until he decided to jack it all in for the love of the humanity.
